A Derry songwriter to the stars and rock star in his own right has reportedly been house-hunting here in his hometown - with his Hollywood other half - following awards successes.

Speculation has it that Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol fame and his fiancée, Friends mega-star, Courteney Cox, were spotted looking at the new development, Coralmount, on the Limavady Road.

This was following his recent honour at the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) Awards in Dublin (pictured), where he received an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Radio Days Conference.

The couple had just attended The BRIT Awards in London, where they supported singer song-writer, Ed Sheeran, who introduced the pair in 2014.

Sheeran, whose hits ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Photograph’ were co-written by McDaid, scooped the Global Success Award.

During his appearance at the IMRO Awards in Dublin, McDaid attributed his continuing success to his ‘beautiful partner’ and said he considered himself the ‘luckiest man alive’.

In his touching speech, the 41-year-old home-grown star said: “Darling, I think you know that you are in the DNA of everything I do, everything I write, everything I am.
“You’ve taught me more than anybody how to face my s**t and how to be and how to love, and love harder and stronger and better than I ever could have imagined possible.”

He added: “You have the most generous heart and I’m lucky enough to be the recipient of even a little piece of it - that I get to hold your hand and look at you and look into your eyes and bring that into rooms all around the world - that makes me the luckiest man alive.

However, it wasn’t all just romance as he ended with a witty quip to Ms Cox, joking: “I think you’re going to make it some day too... you keep working on it darling, and you could be up here.”

The 53-year-old ‘Scream’ and ‘Cougar Town’ actress was said to have been extremely moved by the speech.

Just days later, the couple were said to have been spotted in Derry checking out luxury homes under construction on Limavady Road, with the price tag for a pad in the gated development starting at a cool €750,000.
