Derry's council has issued a statement this morning stating that it neither commissioned or erected posters which appeared in the city centre yesterday calling for the release of the republican prisoner Tony Taylor.
The billboard (pictured above) calling for the release of the republican prisoner Tony Taylor was yesterday erected on the roundabout opposite the City Hotel.
Two other similar billboards - both bearing the Derry City & Strabane District Council logo and highlighting the Council's support for the prisoner - have been put up at Free Derry Corner and beside the Tinnies Statues in Strabane.
The billboard at the City Hotel was erected by a group of men wearing Council hi-viz jackets.
A spokesperson for Derry City and Strabane District Council has now said that it did not commission or erect the posters.
The council spokesperson said that council is also considering what action will be taken in relation to the matter.
