Two brothers have appeared in court in Derry charged with the murder of Karol Kelly, 35, in Rosemount in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Sean Anderson, 19, and his brother Gary Anderson, 20, both of Grafton Street, have been jointly charged with the murder of the father-of-five.
There was a visible police presence in the court room as the family of the deceased and that of the two defendants sat opposite each other in the public galleries.
A barrier was then formed by around twenty police officers on both sides of the courtroom to prevent Mr Kelly's family and friends from getting any closer to the dock before the two defendants were brought up.
One man sitting beside the dock attended with a photo of Karol Kelly.  He was escorted out prior to the arrival of the Anderson brothers.  But as he left he raised the photo facing the defendant's family at which point he was cheered by the Kelly family and friends.
The court room had to be cleared when repeated warnings by District Judge Barney McElholm were ignored and friends and family of Mr Kelly directed their anger at the two defendants.
Defence solicitor Kevin Casey told the court that his clients had been attacked in their home, one of them sustaining broken teeth, before the fatal incident occurred.
No bail application was made given 'the circumstances' and the two defendants were remanded in custody to appear by way of video link on March 29.
