CONCERNS have been raised that new gates at a Derry park will not be enough to address anti-social behaviour which has recently plagued the area.
It comes after approval was given for a new entrance to St Columb’s Park including new gates, stone piers, stone walls and railings and resurfacing of the laneway.
The work will be carried out by Derry City and Strabane District Council after permission for the upgrade was issued at a recent meeting of its Planning Committee.
However, speaking at the meeting, the Waterside SDLP councillor Tina Gardiner said she was ‘stunned’ that only ONE set of gates was being erected at the entrance, while the other entrance close to the security hut at Ebrington was being left open.
