The occupier of a house in Derry was alerted to a fire in the property by a smoke alarm, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has said.
Firefighters from Northland Road Station responded to a report of a blaze in a mid-terraced house at Farland Way in the Hazelbank area shortly before 6.30pm yesterday.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel to extinguish a small fire in the kitchen.
The cause of the fire appeared accidental.
