This Donegal beachfront home is to be auctioned with no reserve price next month and could technically be yours for just €1.
The three-bedroom townhouse in Rathmullan, which boasts stunning and uninterrupted views of Lough Swilly, will be sold at auction on April 4 at 3pm.
The spectacular location of 3 Coastguard Station in the Donegal holiday hotspot is likely to attract great interest, says Gareth McLarnon from Glen Estates in Letterkenny.
"There is no reserve price, which is very rare - especially for a property in such a spectacular and central location.
“The final bid could be €10,000, €100,000, €200,000 or more. In theory, it could go for a euro - although I wouldn’t like to bet on that,” says the estate agent.
“What we can be sure of is that the house will be sold to the highest bidder on the day," he adds.
Interest has been high since the home was listed for auction.
“There have been no properties from that row on the open market in the last 20 years, so there has been significant interest.
“We have had more than 150 requests for details on the house and we have issued 60 legal packs to potential bidders. We’ve also hosted two open days which have had brisk turnout.”
The converted property - which is part of the historic Rathmullan Coastguard Station - was the home of popular local woman Mally (Mary) Stanford, who died in September 2017.
The property boasts a large and beautifully landscaped rear garden, complete with timber summer house and a stone-built shed housing an oil burner.
The public auction of her former home at 3 Coastguard Station, Rathmullan will take place on Wednesday, April 4 at 3pm. For further details log on to www.glenestates.ie, call +353 74 910 2220 or email info@glenestates.ie
An open viewing of the property will take place on Thursday, March 29 at 2pm.
