A 36-year-old Derry man has pleaded guilty to a number of drugs offences including possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of LSD, cannabis and prescription drugs.

The man, who cannot be named due to an anonymity order, appeared before Derry Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 11 charges; possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of a Class A drug ‘M-bomb’, possession of a Class C drug, namely Temazepam, possession of a Class A drug, namely LSD, possession of a Class A drug, MDMA, possession of a Class B drug – cannabis, possession of a Class A drug, cocaine, possession of a Class A drug, Tramadol, Class C drug, Diazepam and obstructing police.

The offences took place between April 29, 2015, and April 14, 2017.

The defence said that the man had pleaded guilty on the basis of the account that he had given in police interview when he made ‘specific admissions’ and claimed he was in possession of cocaine for another person to collect it from him.

The charge of obstructing police related to giving a false name.

With reference to the man being given anonymity, Crown Court Judge Philip Babington said that he had ‘come to the attention of some undesirables’ but that there had to be ‘evidence of an ongoing threat’ against him.

The man, who has a relevant record, was released on continuing bail and will appear back before the court later this month.
