The PSNI have come under attack from petrol bombs and missiles during an Easter commemoration in Derry earlier today.

The event was organised by the Derry 1916 Commemoration Committee, which was led by a colour party in paramilitary-style clothing as it departed from the Creggan shops on Central Drive.

The parade then stopped to lay a wreath before making its towards the City Cemetery.

A PSNI Land Rover which was stationed at the junction of Iniscairn Road came under attack from a petrol bomb and missile throwers and then reversed away from the area.

Another police jeep parked closed to the Creggan roundabout was also set alight by a petrol bomb while another land rover which was broadcasting a warning to those involved in the march also came under attack from youths throwing bricks and petrol bombs.

The procession then made its way into the City Cemetery.

Yesterday, nine people were arrested after police clashed with people attending an Easter commemoration organised by Republican Sinn Fein event in Lurgan.
