Man carrying knives arrested outside County Derry bar

The PSNI has confirmed that a 25-year-old male was arrested for possessing knives outside a well-known public house in Ballykelly at the weekend.

It has also been established that a 54-year-old man was arrested for a driving offence in connection with the same incident.

The incident was said to have taken place outside The Well Bar and Grill on Plantation Road, Ballykelly.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police responded to a report that a male carrying two knives was observed outside licensed premises on Plantation Road in Ballykelly shortly after 10pm last night, Friday 06 April.

“Police attended and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly behaviour, common assault and possession of an article with a blade or point in a public place.

“A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol on breath in connection with the same incident.

“Both males remain in police custody at this time.”
