A PSNI spokesperson has confirmed a 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft and criminal damage in relation to an incident in the Cherry Lane area of Feeny on Sunday.

“He is currently in custody assisting with enquiries,” said the spokesperson.

The arrest follows an incident in which a stolen tractor was driven into the side of a house in Co. Derry causing serious damage.

The property, on Cherry Lane in Feeny, near Dungiven, was struck at about 10pm.

Significant exterior and interior damage was caused to the house. No-one was inside at the time of the crash.

The tractor had been taken from a building site in the village and was later found abandoned a few miles away on the Glenshane Road.
