Derry urged to put forward nominations for the 2018 NW Business Awards

Businesses throughout the North West and their users are now being invited to nominate their winners of 2018 ahead of the annual North West Business Awards.

Organisers, City Centre Initiative (CCI) and Londonderry Chamber of Commerce have been running the awards for over 13 years, with the aim of recognising and celebrating local businesses and entrepreneurs who have accomplished over the year. Together with the award sponsors they are now appealing for members of the public and businesses to put forward their nominations before 20th April 2018.

Sinead McLaughlin, Londonderry Chamber of Commerce and Jim Roddy, City Centre Initiative said the gala awards night is now recognised as one of the North West’s most distinguished events, celebrating businesses throughout the city and wider North West region and is a unique opportunity for businesses to raise their profile and engage with key influencers.

Sinead, Chief Executive, Londonderry Chamber of Commerce added; “These awards are about praising the great work that has been done over the year by our businesses and entrepreneurs, especially those who have taken that step beyond in innovation or best practice and contributed to the growth of the economy within the North West.

“Our nomination process is now open until 20th April and we invite anyone who would like to nominate a business or entrepreneur based in the city or wider NW areas including Donegal, to so before then. The process is very simple and can be completed online via the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce website or by contacting CCI or LCC. We have quite a number of categories this year, thanks to our sponsors including; Pub of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Excellence in Innovation, Best Use of Digital/Social Media, Guest Accommodation Provider of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to Arts and Culture, Best Tourism Event/Initiative, Craft Industry of the Year, Growth through Export, Professional Services Award, Entrepreneur of the Year and a new category this year, the Hair and Beauty Award.

“The awards night will be hosted this year by Barra Best and will be a wonderful evening of recognition, entertainment and fun. During the awards ceremony LCC and CCI will also present the Business of the Year award and Visit Derry will present their Best Conference of the Year award. These awards will celebrate businesses and entrepreneurs from all walks of life and what we and the judges will be looking for at judging time is signs of; dedication, improvement, innovation and commitment to trading and developing the economy of the North West region.”

Jim Roddy, City Centre Manager, CCI spoke of the opportunities for city centre businesses, he said; “The NW Business Awards is a platform for all business throughout the city and region, including our city centre traders. The prestige associated with these types of awards is invaluable for business owners, their staff and the general public, as it inspires buyer confidence and raises the profile of the award recipients.

“We have so much to offer as business destination with a high calibre of services, facilities, staff and hardworking people. There will always be challenges for business and as we move forward into the post Brexit era it is important that we have confidence in what we do and celebrate who we have in the NW, which is why will continue to have these awards and encourage everyone to take part.”
