A Sinn Fein councillor has hit out at those responsible for an incident in the Shantallow area of Derry on Friday night where a van was driven dangerously before crashing into a number of bollards.
Commenting, Sinn Fein's Conchur McCauley said: "Following a night of ongoing anti-community behaviour around the tunnel area which caused the gates to be locked, a small van was taken and driven dangerously around the Shantallow area before smashing through several safety bollards at Carranbane Walk & Curragh Walk.
"They then tried to burn the van and caused serious damage and two young men were seen running from the van.
"It is essential that these people are stopped from stealing our property, and causing distress and damage in our communities. There was also another car stolen and burnt out in the Ballyarnett Road area last night."
He added: "Please pass on any information relating to these incidents, either to authorities, me, any local councillor or community representative."
