Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed confirmation that a pedestrian barrier will be placed on the footpath adjacent to the Holy Family Chapel in Ballymagroarty.

Cllr. McGinley said: “Following representations made to me by residents in the area I have secured a commitment from Transport NI that a pedestrian barrier will be placed beside the traffic crossing on Aileach Road.

"The main concern from residents involved young children running down the pathway from Yeats Court on to the road and the barrier will assist in preventing any accidents taking place.

"Transport NI has indicated that the pedestrian barrier should be in place within the next few weeks and I welcome the speedy response to my request.”
