A large group of people are expected to converge on the Guildhall Square this afternoon for an event organised by local group calling for the legalisation of cannabis.
The '4/20' event is being organised by the LegenDerry Cannabis Club.
It will begin at 4:20pm, at which time those in attendance were asked to 'light up' in a show of solidarity and unity with other cannabis users across the world.
4/20 is a code-term that refers to the consumption of cannabis, especially smoking cannabis around the time 4:20 pm/am and smoking and celebrating cannabis on the date April 20.
There were angry scenes last year when police moved in and removed a young person.
Speaking on its Facbook page, a spokesperson for the LegenDerry Cannabis Club said: "I will be and I encourage as many people as possible to join me in lighting up on 4/20 Guildhall Square in a show of solidarity and unity with every other cannabis consumer on this planet.
"We need to show the PSNI and anyone else watching that we as a community are done being criminalised and forced into the dark by their discrimination on us for making healthier lifestyle choices.
"It's time to step into the light and show them how powerful our numbers are."
