A bagful of precious files containing work on family trees, which was accidentally left in a Derry butcher's shop on Friday, has been returned to its rightful owner.

Keith Wright (on right), the Director of the Foyle Family History Centre, contacted the Derry News today to confirm that researcher Bernadette Bradley had been reunited with her work.

Mr Wright has been helping Bernadette Bradley with her family tree - which includes Bradley & McLaughlin Funeral Directors and Bradley Taxis. (Ms Bradley's grandfather was Charlie Bradley, the poet who lived in Old Collon Lane and who owned a coach-building business.) And she left a bag containing a number of files in Hegarty's shop on Friday evening.

The shop proprietor, Hugh Hegarty, (on left), issued an urgent appeal for help identifying the files' owners. And on Saturday, Ms Bradley was reunited with the archive.
