A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspect device which was found outside the home of a police officer's elderly parents in the Lone Moor Road area of Derry.
The security alert was declared earlier this morning, pictured above.
It marks the third security alert in Derry over the past 24 hours and the second time the parents of a serving PSNI officer have been targeted.
Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney has slammed those responsible.
Mr McCartney said: “This is sadly the third device placed outside a home in Derry in the last 24 hours."
“It is once again causing untold stress and upset to those directly affected, and causing major disruption in the local community.
“This is a main arterial route through the city.
"It is within yards of the gates of the City Cemetery which will cause upset for anyone trying to visit a family grave in the cemetery today or attending a funeral.
“Those responsible need to get off the backs of the people of this city. All they are doing is causing upset to all those caught in all this madness. It is pensioners, young families, children, carers who are bearing the brunt of these actions and clearly they need to stop and stop now.
