Assault in Derry centre this afternoon - man taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Police in Derry are appealing for witnesses after an assault in the centre of Derry this afternoon, which resulted in a man being taken to hospital.

Detective Constable Richard Donnell said: “Police received a report of an assault in the William Street area of Derry around 4.35pm this afternoon, Friday 4 May.

“A male was taken to hospital and treated for head injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.

“Three males were seen in the area around the time of the assault and we would be keen to talk to them as they may have information vital to our investigation.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 968 of 4/5/18.”
