An innovative new social enterprise has recently opened its doors on Bishop Street in the heart of the City Centre.

Le Petit Village is a bespoke indoor role play based play centre for children under 7. It is based on a village and includes a mini market, pizzeria, doctors, hair and beauty salon, construction area, fire truck, cottage and farm.

Each little unit has been equipped withan especially selected range of toys and tools so little ones really can be a farmer/ mechanic/ doctor/ beautician/ chef for the day.

Making Dinner, Cleaning, Going Shopping,Taking care of babies, Exploring and Fixing Things and Driving about our kids just love to be us.Watching children play imaginatively and creatively they often surprise and amaze us.

Children learn so much through imaginative play and utilise and develop many skills: cognitive, physical, emotional and social. The Centre also has a range of ride on toys available to further add to the play experience.

The centre is the first of its kind to be opened in Northern Ireland and the brainchild of local women Francesca Kelly.

“There are no play area’s for young children in the City centre so we decided to take the plunge and provide a safe space for young families to enable them to have the option of taking time out for ‘play’ when in town anyway to shop or socialise,” she said.

Whilst the main focus is on children the centre also has a tea and coffee snug " Le Petit Cafe" for the adults which serves a range of hot and cold drinks and tasty home made breads, scones, cakes and traybakes.  Le Petit Cafe is the perfect place to enjoy a tasty snack whilst watching your children play.

Francesca added “We are delighted with the positive response we’ve had from the children and parents we’ve had through our doors to date. Our plan involves using any money generated from the play centre to contribute to providing much needed counselling services for teenagers & young adults. Essentially we are about providing activities and services which work to support and improve child emotional health and well-being”
