The PSNI has confirmed that an ‘Evidence Gathering Team’ was on duty at a republican march held in Derry at the weekend.
The Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) in Derry held its annual commemoration to honour two local men, Patsy O’Hara and Michael Devine, who died in the 1981 Hunger Strike.
Sunday’s event marked the 37th anniversary of their deaths, which saw attendees gather at the Rosemount Factory at 1.30pm before marching to the Republican Socialist Plot in the City Cemetery.
The PSNI were present during the march, and has since confirmed that its ‘Evidence Gathering Team’ was monitoring the event.
“An Evidence Gathering Team was on duty at the event and if any offences are detected, a police investigation will be carried out,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
