The Bishop of Derry, Most Rev Dr Donal McKeown, will lead three diocesan pilgrimages to Lough Derg over the coming months.
Pope Francis has placed pilgrimage at the heart of the Jubilee year of Mercy. Bishop McKeown will lead pilgrimages on 17-19 June, 5-7 August and a walking pilgrimage from 15-17 June.
Lough Derg, the sacred Sanctuary of St Patrick, is an island, rich in prayer and faith, which has been calling pilgrims for over a thousand years.
For many people Lough Derg, to which St Patrick himself was called to, provides an opportunity to step back from their lives, to take stock and examine the direction which their lives are taking.
For many others it is a time to come closer to God through prayer and reflection.
