Police in Derry investigating the report of criminal damage in the Academy Road area of Derry during the early hours of this morning, Monday, 4 June, have arrested two males.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Fell said: “Police received a report at around 1:45am that items, including an iPod mini, had been taken from a car parked in the area. It was also reported that damage had been caused to three other vehicles parked in the vicinity.

“Police subsequently arrested two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, on suspicion of criminal damage and theft. The 16-year-old male remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries. The 15-year-old male has been bailed pending further police enquiries.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around this time and noticed any suspicious behaviour, or anyone who has information they believe may assist our investigation to contact police at Strand Road on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 114 of 04/06/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
