A man who admitted breaking into a car and stealing a laptop, cash and other items valued at more than £700 will be sentenced next month.

Justin McCabe (46) of Clon Elagh appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with breaching the alcohol condition of his bail.

When he appeared his solicitor Mr. Seamus Quigley indicated that he would be pleading guilty to the offences.

He admitted stealing the laptop value at almost £500 and also stealing cash, a phone and other items on April 27.

A police officer did not oppose bail.

Mr. Quigley said that alcohol 'was a long standing issue' for his client.

Judge Barney McElholm released McCabe on bail on condition he has no contact with the injured party, observe a curfew, stay away from alcohol and wear an electronic tag.
He will appear again on July 20.
