SDLP MLA Mark H Durkan has welcomed a commitment from BT that they are to remove a disused phonebox from the Iniscarn area of Creggan.
"I have been trying to get this eyesore removed for some time and am glad that the company responsible for it have now seen sense," he said.
His party colleague,local woman Cathy Breslin, added: "Many residents have remarked that this dilapidated phonebox detracts from the area.
"It has become a magnet for vandalism and anti-social behaviour and people here will be glad to see it go.''
