SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan has supported Children’s Hospice Week (23-29 May) and the call by the charity Together for Short Lives for families caring for children with life-shortening conditions in Derry to avail of their free helpline service.
Mr Durkan (pictured) said: “I am delighted to support Children’s Hospice Week and raise awareness of the Together for Short Lives’ free helpline service which provides information, help and support to families caring for children with life-shortening conditions.
“This excellent service offers information about local organisations that deliver children’s palliative care and helps parents and carers to access these services.
“Helpline staff can also signpost towards children’s disability charities, grant-making bodies, bereavement support, counselling and benefits information.
“I would therefore encourage parents or carers to contact the free helpline on 0808 808 100 or visit www.togetherforshortlives.org.uk for further information.”
