The Resource Centre in Derry’s Carnhill has unveiled a new look.
The revamped centre has undergone a significant refurbishment and upgrade thanks to a ‘generous’ funding allocation.
The centre has been providing a range of services from its Carnhill base to the Greater Shantallow area for over 40 years, was unveiled at a special event attended by users and staff last week.
Betty Feeney, chief executive of the Resource Centre, said he funding allocated to them by the Northside Development Trust was an example of one group helping another within the same community setting.
“This was a very generous donation from the Northside Development Trust, which we’re very grateful for as it had allowed us to bring the centre up to the required standard by current legislation,” she said.
“When the centre was first built in the 80s, there were no regulations governing buildings which provide services to the community, but there are now, and they’re there for a reason, so it was vital that this work was carried out.”
She added: “All of us here at the Resource Centre are delighted with what we’ve been able to do with the funding, which will allow us to continue serving the community for many years to come.”
