Police found cocaine with a potential street value of £350 inside two Kinder Surprise egg containers, a court has heard.
The class A drugs were found following the search of a property at Sperrin Road, Limavady on October 16, the town’s court heard today.
Police linked the drugs to 31 year-old Paul Ireland, of Eventide Gardens, Limavady.
Ireland initially told officers that the yellow containers held legal highs which he had purchased.
Tests were carried out on the substance which turned out to be cocaine – 4.58 grams in total – with a street value of between £300 and £350.
During interview Ireland admitted that the drugs were for his personal use.
He stated that he had dropped the containers while in his girlfriend’s house earlier that day.
District Judge Liam McNally sentenced Ireland to four months in prison, which he suspended for two years.
He also ordered that the drugs be destroyed.
