A poem has been written in memory of a Derry woman who died earlier this year at the age of only 27.
Rachel Downey, who was the Kilfennan area of the city, died in February.
During her short life, Rachel dedicated a lot of time to a number of charities, including the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).
One of those she helped during her work was local man Patrick McNicholl.
The RNIB held a special event in Derry on Friday to mark the graduation of a large group from one of its programmes.
Patrick used the event to recite a poem he has written in memory of Rachel in public for the first time.
Tributes were also paid to Rachel at the event for the work she did with the charity.
As well as the RNIB, the former Lisneal College student was well-known for her fundraising and charity work with Guide Dogs NI.
She also helped out at the Rainbow Rescue and Rehoming Centre for Cats and Dogs in Eglinton, and also supported the charity through fundraising activities.
Following her death, s spokesperson for the Rainbow Rescue and Rehoming Centre said Rachel was a ‘joy to be around’.
