A US orchestra will perform at a free concert in Derry’s Guildhall next week.

The event is being held in support of the Mayor’s chosen charities for the year, Action Cancer NI and Tearfund.

The Mayor, Hilary McClintock, said concert-goers are in for a real treat when Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) and Irish tenor Paul Byrom, star of the US hit show Celtic Thunder and son-in-law of famous Derry composer Phil Coulter, present The Great American Songbook in the Guildhall on Wednesday, June 22, at 7.30pm.

Donations in support of the Mayor’s charities will be gratefully received during the evening.

The Mayor said: “This promises to be a fabulous ‘feel good’ evening of timeless American classics and show songs showcasing the best songs from Broadway musicals, Hollywood films and theatre stages.”

As a high demand for audience places is anticipated, those wishing to attend the concert on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7.30pm, are advised to RSVP as soon as possible by email to seanna.gillespie@derrystrabane.com. For more information call 02871 253 253 Ext. 6719.
