A number of homes and businesses in the Magherafelt area have been left without power after an underground cable was damaged by a contractor.
It is understood that power to local businesses and homes was cut off at around 11.30am.
A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Electricity has confirmed that repair work is ongoing, but it could take ‘some time’ to rectify the problem.
The spokesperson said: “Third party damage was caused to an underground electric cable after it was hit by a contractor. Work is underway to repair the damage but this may take some time.”
Power has now been restored to some properties in the area.
