Tenants of Apex Housing at Knockena in the Buncrana Road area of Derry have taken part in a community clean-up of their neighbourhood.

The initiative, which took lace earlier this month, came after residents had identified litter as being an issue in their neighbourhood and decided, with the help of their Apex Housing Officer and the Community Involvement Coordinator, to organise a community clean up.

A spokesperson for Apex congratulated the residents.

The spokesperson added: “This gave the residents the opportunity to meet each other, enjoy the sunshine and improve the quality of their environment.”

Materials were supplied by the local Community Safety Wardens, bottles of water were supplied by the local shop (Whitehouse Retail) and Apex treated everyone taking part to an ice cream!

If you would like to be more involved in your community contact the Apex, contact Community Involvement Coordinator Rachael Power on 028 7130 4800.
