Ireland take on France in the last 16 of the European Championship Finals this afternoon – and Derry is all set to party – win or lose!

With many pubs reporting fewer customers than normal over the past few nights, thousands are expected to turn the town green and white today to cheer on Martin O’Neill’s side.

Many pubs are bringing in extra staff and have stocked up on supplies to ensure the party will be a swell one.

Off-licences have also reported an increase in sales.

Hundreds took to the streets on Wednesday night to celebrate the sensational win over Italy which guaranteed qualification to the knockout stages.

That number is expected to turn to thousands if Ireland see off the host nation and pre-tournament favourites.

Derry duo, James McClean and Shane Duffy - two of the stars of the “Italian Job” – are expected to start with O’Neill expected to make just the one change – bringing back the influential Jonathan Walters who missed the historic win due to injury.
