A one per cent pay increase for health and social care staff announced by Health Minister Michelle O’Neill has been welcomed by Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney.
More than 55,000 workers across the North will benefit from the announcement.
Mr McCartney said: "Despite significant financial pressures brought about by the austerity agenda of the Tory government at Westminster, Minister O'Neill has worked hard to ensure that our health care workers are recognised.
"Health workers play a key role in our society and this pay award is fully deserved.”
He concluded: "It is also a further indication of Sinn Féin's commitment to support health care workers and ensure they receive a fair wage."
