A family were alerted to a fire in their home by a smoke alarm, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has said.
Firefighters from Northland Road station responded to the blaze in a mid-terrace house in Carnhill shortly after 5.15am this morning.
A Fire Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a CO2 extinguisher to put out the fire.
“Sounding automatic alarm alerted occupiers to the fire.”
The spokesperson said the cause of the fire appeared to be accidental.
