A security alert in the Galliagh-Carnhill area of Derry has ended.
Police sealed off a section of the Glengalliagh Road late last night following the discovery of a suspicious object.
The road, which had been closed from the roundabout at Moss Road and the junction at Carnhill College, has reopened.
Police say the object was examined by British army technical officers and declared a hoax.
A spokesperson said the object has been taken away for further forensic examination.
