Derry City and Strabane District Council is encouraging migrant workers and ethnic minorities living in the area to avail of English Language and Local Awareness classes funded by its Good Relations Programme.
Angela Askin, Good Relations Officer with the Council, explained participants must live in the Derry and Strabane area and be available to attend classes on Tuesday evenings at 6.00pm-8pm from September to November next.
The initiative is being delivered by the North West Academy of English at Cultúrlann, 37 Great James Street, Derry, and cost £10 for 10 classes.
Encouraging potential applicants who may benefit from the classes to book their places as soon as possible as spaces are limited, Ms Askin pointed out that the course induction will include an English level placement test, with lessons provided for all levels.
A Local Awareness cultural event will also be delivered by the Academy on behalf of Council.
All students who complete the course will be awarded with a certificate from a British Council accredited language school.
