VIDEO: Funeral of Bishop Daly underway at St Eugene's Cathedral

The funeral is underway of the late retired Bishop of Derry, Most Rev Dr Edward Daly.

Mourners began gathering in St Eugene’s Cathedral up to two hours before the service began.

Church and political leaders are among those in attendance.

Around 150 bishops and clergy are taking part in the service.

Chief celebrant is the Bishop of Derry, Dr Donal McKeown.

Also in attendance are the Primate of All Ireland Archbishop Eamon Martin and his predecessor, Cardinal Sean Brady.

Among the mourners are Irish President Michael D Higgins, former SDLP leader John Hume and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Members of the Duddy family are also attending.

Thousands have visited the cathedral where Bishop Daly's body was reposing from Monday night last.

The popular cleric died on Monday morning last after a long illness. He was 82.

Bishop Daly will be laid to rest in the cathedral grounds, next to the entrance of the church.
