A Derry man is considering his future in farming after dogs mutilated his sheep for the second time in a matter of months.
Paddy Duffy bought the farm on the Whitehouse Road on the edge of the city five years ago and it has since become a family business, with his granddaughter, Laura, and grandson, Ciaran, helping him with day-to-day maintenance.
On December 16 last Mr Duffy lost ten ewes and had nine aborted following the trauma of the attack.
Eight sheep were killed in the latest attack which occurred on Thursday last.
Seven were so badly injured they had had to be put to sleep, one (pictured) was killed outright while four needed veterinary attention
It is believed stray dogs from nearby housing estates have been carrying out the attacks.

As a result of the latest attack Mr Duffy is giving serious consideration to the future of his farm.
He said: “It’s expensive trying to keep sheep and this is the second attack in a few months.
“Whatever money we make we put back in to the upkeep of the farm.
“I can’t afford to keep going like this and if it happens again I might have to give them up.”
