Recommendations made in the a police inspectorate’s report on the need for the PSNI to improve its protection and support for vulnerable victims, has been welcomed by Foyle Sinn Fein MLA, Raymond McCartney.
Mr McCartney, a member of the Policing Board, said HMIC report stated the PSNI were “not dealing with vulnerable people.”
He added: “This incudes areas such as cases of domestic violence, young people who have gone missing or those who have experienced sexual exploitation.
“I welcome the report and its recommendations. It points out the inadequacies of the approach by the PSNI but it also clearly highlights a way forward to rectify these failings.”
Mr McCartney concluded: “The Chief Constable has accepted the report’s recommendations in full and Sinn Féin will be closely monitoring the implementation of this report.”
