News that the Frankie & Benny’s restaurant chain is to close its Derry outlet is a blow to the local hospitality sector, a local councillor has said.
The company said it was to shut down its outlet at Crescent Link Retail Park in the Waterside – just over two years after it opened.
It is one of three outlets to be closed across the North.
It follows the recent closure of the JFK outlet at nearby Drumahoe.
Sinn Fein Cllr Christopher Jackson said those in restaurants in the city and elsewhere would “rightly be concerned about the closure.”
He added: “The loss of these jobs would be a blow to the Waterside area and the local economy.
“Management should ensure that staff are kept informed of developments and opportunities for relocation or redeployment should be offered if possible.”
