A gay couple have said they have no doubt an attack on their Derry home was motivated by homophobia.
The attack took place in the Dunluce Court area of Ballymagroarty on Saturday night.
The couple, who only wished to give their first names of John and PJ, had been out at the Foyle Pride parade in the city earlier that day.
When they returned home, they discovered an attempt had been made to kick in their front door.
Someone had also urinated through their letterbox and used condoms were found lying in a yard at the rear of the flat.
John said he was disgusted by the attack.
“We had been out at the Pride parade on Saturday and had had a great day, and then to come home to this,” he said.
“I have no doubt that our home was attacked because we are gay.”
The Derry man said he had lived in the flat for 11 years.
His home was previously attacked around 10 years when an attempt was made to set the property of fire.
John said the previous attack was also treated as a homophobic incident.
Police are investigating the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
