A Drugs Awareness Forum held in Ballymagroarty Community Centre was a “resounding success,” according to the organisers.
Speakers included representatives from HURT (Have Your Tomorrows), the only holistic drug and alcohol support group in Derry and Strabane.
A spokesperson for the organisers, Ballymagroarty Community Empowerment, said: “We really care about our community and the risks and dangers drugs and alcohol are having on our children.
“If anyone is needing any help or feels they need to talk confidentially you can talk to us anytime - we can put in the right hands with HURT.. Their door is always open.”
The spokesperson added: “Massive thank you to Linda and Adrian who attended our night from HURT.
“They gave an amazing talk followed by questions.
“Also big thank-you to iRSP Inis Eoghan for attending and for support offered.
“Also, a big thank-you to the residents and also Danny and Emmett from Creggan who are looking to do something similar.
“And not forgetting a big thank-you to the Ballymagroarty Woman's Group for providing refreshments”
“And last, but not least, to Christy Daniels for the use of the centre. Everyone played a massive part.”
