The Clooney Road in Derry has reopened to traffic following a fatal road crash this morning.
A man in his 40s died in the crash.
Police said the man died following a two vehicle collision that occurred on the Clooney Road at around 12.50am this morning.
A man aged in his 50s and a woman aged in her 50s were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
A police spokesperson said: "The rtc involved a silver Ford Ka and a grey Peugeot 308.
“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the cars in the area to contact Strand Road Police Station or the Collision Investigation Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 70 of 04/09/16."
Sinn Féin councillor for the area Paul Fleming said the local community was on shock following the tragedy.
"Any death on our roads is one too many and a tragedy for all those involved.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died at this difficult and sad time and those injured in this accident.”
