Foyleside Shopping Centre is to open as usual today despite a lorry crashing into the building in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at around 5am when an out of control Poundland lorry smashed into the side of Foyleside Shopping Centre.

The vehicle had been parked adjacent to the Poundland store at Ferrquay Street, and then rolled down Linenhall Street, crashing into a wall outside the Millennium Forum.

The lorry then continued to roll across Newmarket Street, damaging lamp posts and a car, before crashing into the side entrance of Foyleside, pictured above.

However, the shopping centre has announced via social media that the centre will open from 1pm to 6pm today as normal.
