City of Derry Airport today confirmed that their sole airline, Ryanair, will no longer operate a service to London or Faro from April 2017 and will also be scaling back their Liverpool service.
Roy Devine, Chairman of City of Derry Operations Ltd, stated: “This reduced Ryanair programme for summer 2017 is clearly disappointing news for the airport and for all those wishing to travel with Ryanair from CoDA (City of Derry Airport) to London Stanstead or to Faro from April 2017 onwards.”
Mr Devine said the airport board and management had been anticipating the news for some time following the decision in 2015 by Ryanair to commence services from Belfast International Airport.
Mr Devine said that they do not anticipate any job losses at this time.
