Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked with a hatchet in Derry earlier today.
A 31 year-old man has been arrested following an incident in the Chapel Road area of Derry at 4am.
The man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, aggravated burglary and common assault.
It follows a report to police shortly before 4am of a man attacking another man with a hatchet.
One man received treatment for cuts to his arm and face.
Detective Sergeant Brian Reid, of Reactive and Organised Crime, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have any information that could assist in our investigation, to contact detectives at Strand Road quoting reference 121 of 15th September.
“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
