The BBC’S Noel Thompson will be the host of a special charity auction organised by Cornerstone City Church in the city’s Guildhall on Friday, September 23.
Money raised from the auction will go towards funding a team of ten volunteers from Cornerstone City Church who are going to Zimbabwe for two weeks in November 2016 supporting the work of the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) missionaries, Alan and Dorothy Graham and their organisation Zimbabwe Orphan Care.
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock has added her support to the campaign by hosting the event at the Guildhall. Encouraging the public to support the event.
“I am very supportive of the work being done by Cornerstone City Church in helping those in need in Zimbabwe, particularly with this good cause.
“In addition to providing much needed facilities and support to Zimbabwean communities, the volunteers extend a hand of friendship and goodwill. Businesses and local residents have kindly donated items for the auction which will include a variety of items from a bag of potatoes to a weekend break away. I wish everyone involved in the event a huge success and encourage everyone to come along and help raise the much needed funds for the campaign.”
All funds raised will go directly towards supporting the work of Alan and Dorothy Graham and the Zimbabwe Orphan Care programme.
Alan and Dorothy Graham work in over 135 Schools, 80 Good News Clubs and 14 Orphanages, teaching 120,000 children monthly about Jesus.
They are also involved in building school classrooms, drilling wells to supply water for rural schools, feeding and providing school fees and uniforms for orphans.
Tickets are priced at £5 and can be purchased by emailing office@cornerstonecity.eu. Light refreshments will be provided.
