Those responsible for illegal dumping in laneways off Park Avenue in the Rosemount area of Derry days after a major clean-up have been slammed by a local councillor.
Sinn Fein Councillor Cooper (pictured) said it was “hard to believe” that the laneways had been cleaned up in the last few weeks.
He added: “ We now have to deal with this mess again.
“A lot of time and effort has gone into the cleanup scheme with the help of Teamworks. Some of the laneways were in a very bad state with overgrown weeds and piles of rubbish.
“I have been in touch with the Council to visit these laneways and carry out an inspection.
“Sadly, there seems to be a very small element that has no regard for the area and whilst a free bulky lift is available they simple just dump stuff in the back lanes as if it is someone else’s fault. There is no excuse for this at all.”
Cllr Cooper concluded: “I am once again making an appeal for a bit of common sense around this issue.”
