Derry singer Bronagh Gallagher’s new album has received favourable reviews.

“Gather Your Greatness” is the third album released by The Commitments and Pulp Fiction star.

Irish Times critic Lauren Murphy says Gallagher may still be known primarily as an actress, but “overlook her musical career at your peril.”

In her review, she says: “For her third album, the Derry woman plunders the soul-pop canon of the 1960s, with a dash of righteous vulgarity here and there for good measure.

“These are songs sung with raw passion, as heard on pleading closer Heal Me, the intoxicating, throb of Stranger and the understated bristle of Lonely Girls.

“Sandie Shaw and Cilla Black would have killed for the brass-infused Radio and the soulful, string-laden rollick of Can You Hear Me, while Make it Easier sounds like a Bond theme by way of Phil Spector.

“True, there’s not a whole lot of dynamic from track to track, but there is much to be enamoured with otherwise.”
