Sinn Féin group leader on Derry City and Strabane District Council Paul Fleming is urging local people to support the day of action by campaign group, Border Communities Against Brexit, taking place on the Derry-Donegal border this Saturday.
The local rally will take place at Bridgend at 3.00pm.
Councillor Paul Fleming (pictured) said: "In the aftermath of the recent EU referendum Sinn Féin held a series of public meetings in Derry and across Ireland and it's clear there is a great deal of concern about the prospect of being dragged out of the EU.
"In border areas in particular there is huge uncertainty over the impact on agriculture, business, trade, travel, tourism and those who cross the border on a daily basis.
"The campaign group Border Areas Against Brexit which brings together representatives of business groups, trade unions, community groups and others, will be holding a day of action on Saturday, October 8 calling for the remain vote to be respected. “
Cllr Fleming concluded: "Sinn Féin is supporting the day of action and I am calling on as many people as possible to take part to demand that the democratic will of the people be respected as the best way to address those concerns."
