East Derry Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald is encouraging women and girls to get involved in sport this Women's Sport Week.
Ms Archibald (pictured), the vice-chairperson of the Assembly's All Party Group on Sport and Physical Recreation, said Women's Sport Week, which runs until Sunday, was a “good opportunity” to raise awareness of the importance of being active for both physical and mental wellbeing and also for fun.
She added: "With many sporting organisations running events over this week it is also an opportunity for girls and women of all ages to try out a new activity.
"Women's Sport Week also gives us a chance to pay tribute to all the athletes who inspire us and to the many volunteers, coaches and administrators that make it possible for the sporting organisations to be successful."
